Meet The Chef is a four-part mini-series that tells the story of four of the most renowned chefs in Belgium. How did their unique personalities and experience get them to where they are today? Where do they hope to be in the future? What inspires their distinctive style?

In November 2017, Marcelo received the first Michelin star for Oak. An emotional moment for him and his partner Dominique – who, according to Marcelo, is “the backbone of the company” – but also for the entire team. In 2017 they were finally rewarded for their hard work. It was the moment it became clear that Oak had reached a certain standard in the culinary world. A standard that they have been trying to surpass every day since.


In this episode, we follow Frédéric Chabbert, who traveled the world, learned the ropes in Alain Ducasse’s kitchen, got two Michelin stars in Hong Kong and finally settled down in Antwerp, at the iconic restaurant Dôme.


In this episode we follow the ambitious and driven chef – Sam Van Houcke. Sam does not owe his skills to experiences gained at big restaurants. Instead, he leaves his mark by participating in international cooking competitions. After a transition year in which he won big prizes, he opened restaurant Maste in Ghent, where the Hygge culture takes the center stage.


This episode tells the story of a chef who is driven by the relationships he has with his guests. It was them who motivated him to open a restaurant next to his deli, and it was them who – convinced by his talent – drove him to reach a major milestone: a Michelin star. For Benoît Neusy it has always been about delivering an infallible guest experience, which he perfects at L’Impératif in Domaine d’Arondeau.
